Watching, Wondering, and Webbing

I must admit, I've been doing alot of wondering (questioning). If my previous efforts to find balance in my life did not work, why would new efforts work? How can I do things differently than I have in the past?

Which do I focus on first body, mind, or spirit? All three seem equally important to me and one can definitely affect the other. I have a tendency to overeat, because I'm stressed. If I find time to work on the mind and spirit, my body may be affected positively.

I think the best way to create success is to find success and explore it; therefore, I've begun to watch (explore). I've made a list of the positive people in my life who seem to have balance in their life. I want to observe these people and perhaps interview them. Thus far, I've learned that almost all of these people exercise on a regular basis; this does not just mean that they walk down the hall, but they purposely set aside time in their schedule to exercise. One person even mentioned that they meditate.

In hopes of finding out more about meditation, I began the webbing (searching) phase of my inquiry. I purchased the book Meditation Bliss by David Fontana. I've learned so far that there are different ways to meditate. Several methods incorporate the things I love: music, scent, and deep breathing. This book hints to the benefits of yoga. I suppose this is where my next search will take me.

  1. Lee Ann,

I am really interested in your BLOG, and I really hope I can learn from your findings. God knows I could use some balance ;0)

You said, "I've made a list of the positive people in my life who seem to have balance in their life." I was just curious...What made them qualify in your eyes as haveing balance? Is it the way they look? Their weight? Their personality? or a combination of things?

I think it is a great idea to look for balance around you and study it!!! I was just considering who I know that is balanced, and well...maybe I just don't know what to look for.

I chose people for my list using the following criteria: Do they smile frequently, do they think positively, are they kind to other people, do they always appear to be calm (not frazzled, like I am most of the time), do they make the world a better place........

  3. Lee Ann,
I think this idea sounds great! Personally, I have found that regular exercise benefits me in 2 ways. Not only do I get a good workout in, but I do it in the morning to kind of get my mind ready for the day. I call it, "Me Time." I know working out sounds just like the name - work. But, I find once I am done I have a sense of accomplishment and my mind is clear to tackle in oncoming projects. :) Can't wait to see your results!

  4. I cannot wait to hear what you find. It is so hard being a wife, mom, student, teacher, etc.... There are days I would love to just sit and do nothing. Or better yet go do something just for me. But those are definately far and few between. I keep saying as soon as I am done with my MLS I will do things for me. And part of me already knows that as soon as this phase of my life is complete something else will come up.

When finished, I will be a couple years from my 40th. Some girlfriends and I plan to take a trip to somewhere tropical.
